How-to — Step by step
How to compose a dried fruit & nut platter
Composing a platter of dried fruit and nuts is about assembling dates, dried fruit and roasted nuts around one guiding thread: the recipient’s taste. Here is the Guermello method, using the real products from the shop, in five steps.
- 1
Choose the sweet base
Start with dates (Moroccan Medjool, or stuffed with pistachio or walnut) and dried fruit such as Ouazzane figs, apricots or raisins. This base gives the platter its colour and its first bite.
- 2
Add the roasted nuts
Complete with hand-roasted nuts: salted or natural almonds, cashews, pistachios, or a ready-made mix. This is the part that brings crunch and roasted flavours.
- 3
Balance sweet, savoury and neutral
Aim for a simple balance: about one third sweet (dates, figs), one third savoury or aperitif roasts, one third natural nuts or mix. Taste the whole before settling on the composition.
- 4
Take care of the presentation
Alternate colours and textures, separate products that stick or transfer (sticky dates, salted nuts) and choose the container: a ready-to-give box, a serving platter or a presentation crate. A dedication card or a ribbon is enough to personalise it.
- 5
Plan the quantity and order in time
For an aperitif, allow around 80–100 g per person as a rough guide and adjust to your guests. Order online from 250 g per product, or through listed-price gift boxes; for a fixed date or a larger order, order two to three days ahead.
